Frequently Asked Questions

How do I order a custom watercolor?

Select a portrait option from the list above (peoplepethouse) and then fill out the form. You can review the process in the above section.

How long does a painting take?

Generally, a painting is ready within a 1-2 weeks after it is started. The timeline depends on my production schedule, sizing and complexity of the painting.

Do you offer shipping?

Yes, shipping is available at an additional cost. I ship all portraits through UPS and the pricing starts at $18 depending on current rates and the size of the painting.

Do you paint from photos?

All of my portraits are painted directly from a photo source. A photo (or multiples) is required to start a painting.

Are you able to paint two figures from two separate photos into one painting?

Great question! It is definitely in the realm of possibility, but ultimately will depend on the two photos and if they will be able to be spliced together and look like they belong. Some things to consider are the perspective of the photo, lighting, and sizing/quality. Contact me and we can see if this is a possibility for your portrait.

How much does a watercolor painting cost?

Pricing depends on the size of the painting and the complexity/subject matter, the price begins at $600 for an 5" x 7" house portrait.

Do you frame the paintings?

Currently, I do not offer framing. However, the paintings come in standard sizes so customers may purchase a "ready-made" frame at a store of their choosing or have it professionally framed.

Can you make changes from a photo to a painting?

Yes, there are adjustments that we can make to a photo when creating a watercolor painting. I can add flowers, bushes, move tree branches, remove items like telephone poles and wires ,etc. There are some things I am unable to do, such as paint a home from a different angle than the photo. Just let me know and we can see if we can make it happen!

What kind of photo is best when it comes to painting?

Beautiful watercolors are all about the light and shadows in a photo. If it's a photo of your pet, multiple pictures/angles will help me get a better understanding of your pet's personality.

For a house portrait, I'll need a photo of the exact angle you'd like the painting done, along with some others showing details you'd like included, such as window frames, door decor, or parts hidden by trees.
